Quinn Latimer’s session takes the form of an experimental reading, writing, and performance workshop. Literary hybrids—the essay-film, the poem-as-poor-copy, artists’ theater, the lecture-performance, the memoir-as-novel, pop songs as political activism, letters and lyrics as history, radio plays as everything—are the formal and political models. In the afternoon, written and oral texts are read, listened to, and used as formal frameworks to write our own texts. Subsequently, their various possibilities of presentation are discussed. In the evening, these texts become nocturnes, as we perform them in a reading open to the larger documenta 14 team and the Kassel public. The participants are encouraged to write between the page and performance, trying out and appropriating disparate literary forms and dissident voices in their own expanding work.
